Harlow college
Lecturers at Harlow college in Essex have voted for strikes over management’s decision to make staff reapply for their jobs with longer hours and for less pay.

The branch voted by 76 percent for strike action.

A lecturer at the college told Socialist Worker, The branch agreed to five days of strike action. A meeting this week was to decide the dates.

This Saturday we are holding a lobby of our local MP Bill Rammell, who is an education minister.

We have had massive support so far, and we would ask as many people as possible to come and join us.

Our UCU union’s national executive has voted to give us strike pay from day one.

Lobby Bill Rammell, Saturday 19 May, 12 noon, Advice Centre, East Gate, Harlow town centre. The lobby will be followed by a public meeting

Perth college
Lecturers at Perth college in Scotland held a one-day strike on Tuesday of last week.

The strike was the first in a series of planned actions to protest against the introduction of new contracts and threatened redundancies.

If the current talks fail, further strikes are planned for 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24 May.
