A human resources expert has joined the board of Bradford District Care Trust.
Michael Smith, of Queensbury, has been appointed as a non-executive director for four years. He comes to the trust after working as director of human resources at Yorkshire Water.
After working at the utilities company for 28 years he now has his own business providing human resource advice to businesses. Alongside his work at the trust and his own business, he is also a trustee at Batley Resource Centre and is a governor at Buttershaw Primary School.
He said: "I am very excited to join the trust as it moves toward Foundation Trust status. I expect to be able to contribute to the future of the trust through my past experience and am looking forward to the challenges ahead.
"I have a particular interest in mental health because I believe it is an issue which does not get the attention it deserves."
Care Trust chairman Barry Seal said: "I am delighted to be working with Michael. As a large organisation with a diverse workforce, his wealth of human resource knowledge will be invaluable to the trust."
Mr Smith has declared he has had no political activity in the last five years and does not hold any other ministerial appointments. He will receive remuneration of 5,875 a year.
Currently applying for Foundation Trust status, Bradford District Care was formed in April 2002 and provides mental health and learning disability services in the Bradford district and mental health services to the Craven district of North Yorkshire.
