Beauty schools instruct students in the arts of hairdressing, cosmetics, skincare, massage, and many other personal care profession specialties. They offer training opportunities and comprehensive education that can enhance and develop a career in the field of beauty, and future beauty consultants have a wide variety of beauty training to choose from.
Beauty schools teach many skills that include coloring, cutting, and styling hair. They also provide instruction in chemical mixing for hair treatments. Students learn how to give manicures and pedicures and apply artificial nails. Beauty schools also teach skin care techniques such as facials, moisturizing, and waxing. The future cosmetologist can learn the art of make-up application, and some beauty schools even teach massage techniques and herbal wrap applications to enhance skin tone.
Graduates of beauty schools will find opportunities for employment in many interesting areas of beauty such as hairstylists, manicurists, makeup artists, waxing specialists, hair color specialists, and estheticians (skin care specialists). Jobs can be found in hair and nail salons, entertainment industries, private consultation, product sales, and in many other areas that support fields of beauty.
Regulations in beauty professions vary from state to state, but the goal of good beauty schools is to train students in preparation for positions and professions in beauty care, and to qualify for relevant state licensing or certification examinations.
