Justina Curtis didn't plan on coming back to the Valley after graduating from Marshall University with her degree in physical therapy assisting, but the Waynesboro-area native knew it was in the cards when a position opened up at Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.
"It was really just a stroke of luck," said the 2005 graduate. "Within three weeks of graduating, I had a job.
Just last week, Curtis and her colleagues at WWRC partnered up with Stewart Middle School for a Disability Sensitivity Day program designed to educate eighth-graders on the physical and hidden disabilities people around them could be living with.
"It was awesome," Curtis said. "I wasn't expecting it to be such a hit, but seeing their faces, it's such a reward."
In addition to working at WWRC, Curtis also dances with Ballet Extension in Bridgewater.
The 22-year-old has been dancing for 17 years and has been on two national tours.
