Glutathione is a powerful water-soluble anti-oxidant enzyme, absorbed mostly in the liver, which helps to fight health-damaging free radicals. Free L- Glutathione is also involved in a variety of other bodily functions.
How L-glutathione Works to Improve Health
Glutathione works in DNA Synthesis and repair, protein and prostaglandin synthesis, and amino acid transport.
It also assists in the metabolism of carcinogens and toxins, enhances Immune system function, and aids in the prevention of oxidative cell damage and enzyme activation. Glutathione also helps to maintain the functions of other antioxidants.
Signs of L-glutathione Deficiency
Glutathione deficiency typically occurs as a result of aging. It may exhibit as macular degeneration, diabetes, and lung and gastrointestinal diseases. It also contributes to the development neurodegenerative disorders like pre-eclampsia, Parkinson’s, AIDS, and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Sources of L-Glutathione
Glutathione is present in many fruits, including tomatoes, watermelon, grapefruit, oranges, peaches, and cantaloupe, as well as in a wide variety of vegetables.
Avocado, potato, spinach, okra, acorn squash, and asparagus all contain L-glutathione; other vegetables--broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, and parsley, not only provide GSH--glutathione peroxidase--but also stimulate the body to make more of it.
Because cooking destroys L-glutathione, you will get more of its benefits from eating either raw or steamed vegetables.
L-glutathione is present in most meats as well.
How to Select an L-glutathione Supplement
1. Because nutritional supplements are largely unregulated in the U.S. and UK, consumers have only a 20% chance of buying a product which contains the same ingredients as those stated on the label. We therefore advise you to purchase your nutritional supplements from pharmaceutical GMP compliant facilities, which comply with the strictest highest regulatory standards in the world.
2. Make sure your L-Glutathione supplement does not contain any fillers or additives—including sugars or starches, gluten, silica (sand!) or artificial colors or flavors of any kind.
Reduced glutathione is found in one of the supplements we personally use from a company called Xtend-Life Natural Products which meets the above requirements. The nutrient is contained in their signature product- - Total Balance. It is easily absorbed by the human body.
Total Balance is an all in one supplemental capsule that contains within itself over seventy powerful nutrients. It comes in three formulas; one for women, one for men, and a unisex formula.
We personally use this supplement and have done for over two years now, with excellent health results. We have noticed an increase in energy, positive mental activity, and a general sense of well being. Total Balance is manufactured in the pristine source of New Zealand. The product is contaminant free, and we believe the supplement to be the best of its kind after doing countless comparisons.
