LAURIE - The largest medical clinic on the lake's west side will be moving.
It may be at least a few years down the road, but plans to relocate the West Lake Medical Center are underway.
Land a 1/4-mile down Route O has been purchased to build a new 6,000-square-foot facility, but it may be 2009 before the ground breaking takes place, according to Jeff Robbins, operating manager for Lake Medical Group LLC.
The new clinic building will be a partnership between Dr. Kathline Robbins and Dr. Brian Knopf. Dr. Kenneth Derrington will continue to be a part of the practice.
'We are committed to providing primary care services and continue the tradition of good quality care,' Robbins said. 'The physicians are upgrading the facility and making a commitment to bring more services to this side eventually.'
About a third of the building will remain unfinished to provide an area for future expansion. The office will have enough room for up to five physicians.
The West Lake Medical Center focuses on primary care, but also offers cardiology services and is equipped with a trauma room.
Derrington and Knopf are family practitioners, Robbins specializes in internal medicine.
The West Lake Medical Center has been providing health care to the lake area for 15 years.
