You can consider using natural remedies for eczema, if you are looking for non-drug alternatives. Or you can also use home remedies to complement your treatment plan to help decrease the incidence of flare-ups and control the itching. Here are some common examples that you can try.

In Europe, many people use evening primrose oil because it has a high concentration of GLA (gamma linolenic acid) in it. It is an essential omega-6 fatty acid. Most people need between two and four grams of this fatty acid daily, but keep in mind that it can take as long as six months to see results.

Zinc is a mineral that can reportedly help to reduce your eczema breakouts. It is important to note, however, that you should not take more than thirty milligrams of zinc per day. Too much zinc into your system can cause you to be copper deficient, which in turn leads to other health problems.

Herbs are also widely used as natural remedies for eczema. Herbs that are cleansing for the skin include burdock, nettle, red clover, yellow dock, and cleavers. These herbs have been said to clear up skin rashes and help to cleanse the affected skin of any impurities.

Tea is one of the many natural remedies for eczema that brings about much pleasure. If you enjoy tea, then you may want to visit your health food store and purchase these three dry herbs: red clover, burdock root, and yellow dock. Take equal parts of each of these herbs and carefully mix them together. Put one teaspoonful of your herbal mixture into one cup of warm or hot (not scalding) water and allow it to steep for a few minutes. Then drink up this home remedy for eczema!

There is another variety of herbs that are made into a tea. It is called “Dermatitis Tea.” Make a mixture using half a teaspoonful of licorice root, pau d’arco bark, sarsaparilla root, burdock root, and if possible, bupleurum root. Simmer three cups of water with the herbs for about ten minutes. Then you will turn the heat off and let the herbs steep for another ten minutes. Strain the mixture. For maximum benefit, drink this herbal tea three to four times during the day.

If you want a tincture, then you can make it using the same amount of herbs as the tea recipe to the amount of water as the tincture recipe dictates. Take a half dropful of the tincture three or four times daily as well.

Natural remedies for eczema can easily be taken from your own home and are not costly solutions. Do let your doctor know if you are going to try any of these.
