HUNDREDS OF EAGER SCHOOLCHILDREN swarmed displays as the annual trade show BMEX opened yesterday at Sherbourne Conference Centre.
More than 130 exhibitors showcased products and services, handing out plenty of samples. Children could be seen consuming from green and "cherry pink" popcorn to new BICO strawberry, vanilla and chocolate milk flavours set to go on sale next week.
Instant hits with the children were new Bajan cricket and maths games, Eezee Kricket and Calculink.
For the health-conscious, there was also new Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging technology that promoter Stan Odle Jr. told them "can see breast cancer long before you feel the lump".
Next door, the Ozone Therapy Centres Inc. showcased a hypothermic chamber and an oxygenator key ingredients in a treatment regime to relieve stress and "delay" ageing.
A lot of the big names in local business including Banks (Barbados) Breweries Limited, Pine Hill Dairy Ltd., Chickmont Foods Ltd., BICO Limited, Solar Dynamics and Roberts Manufacturing Company Ltd are also taking part in BMEX.
There is a regional presence too, with exhibits from Guyana's Amerindians, St Vincent, and Jamaica. The offerings from these countries include clothing, wicker furniture, jewellery and foodstuff. (TY)
