If you are an athlete and you are very into sports then the one fact you should know is that your jump vertical (vertical leap - how high you can jump in the air) is a very good strong point of your overall abilities. For instance...the NFL focuses on the jump vertical when it tests the athleticism of its athletes. Many athletes (a majority of those in the NBA) try very hard and do many different types of routines to get their vertical leaps to double or even triple.
If you talk to any professional trainer they will tell you that there are many ways to do that. I had the opportunity to talk to a professional sports trainer recently and he told me that there are simple exercises and some great programs (the single best program is listed at the bottom of the page in the author’s bio) that will help any athlete double, or even triple their jump vertical.
The professional sports trainer said there were a few things any athlete or beginning athlete could do to increase their jump vertical He said you should always warm your muscles up and stretch to reduce the chance of pulling or tearing a muscle. Always take time to warm up and stretch to help increase your jump vertical. It also helps your jump vertical if you are loose and more flexible. Try to find some ankle weights and put them around your ankle. Then find a good jump rope and practice jumping rope with the weights attached to you ankle. This will add more strength and power into your legs which is very important when you are increasing your leap vertical. Also it helps to have strong abdominal muscles. It doesn’t seem like your abdominals would be that important for your jump vertical but they are. So for your jump vertical you need to jump rope with ankle weights. Try doing squats at the gym. This will also increase your jump vertical. It increases the overall power of your legs which will definitely give you a higher jump vertical. Plyometrics are another way in which to increase your jump vertical. Plyometrics is an exercise that uses forceful movements to develop muscle power and focuses on using that muscle power to generate force quickly. Sprinting helps also. It works your calve muscles which are very important in helping you increase your jump vertical.
These are just some of the things that the professional trainer said would increase an athlete’s jump vertical. One of the main things that most regular professional athletes have that most regular athletes like high school or college athletes don’t have is a professional trainer. A professional trainer can work with an athlete to increase his or her jump vertical two to three times. This is where it’s important for regular athletes to have a program that they can rely on and stick to. Just check online for the best programs. And remember that the best program needs consistency to make it work. If you want your jump vertical to increase then you have to work at it and work hard.
