Help Little Marko!

Marko had a tumour removed at the Zagreb Rebro hospital, the size of 3 centimetres, after which the left side of his body was paralysed. A biopsy showed it was a malignant tumour of the fourth degree. After a month of recovery, Marko was transported to the Children's hospital in Zagreb and the first magnetic resonance findings were made. Unfortunately, the tumour had metastases in the head fluid and the spinal cord.

He started his further treatment with 19 chemotherapy sessions and 33 radiations at the Zagreb Tumour Institute. At the same time, physical therapy was necessary and 6 months after the operation, Marko managed to walk again.

Marko`s bone marrow was damaged due to numerous chemotherapies and radiation. Megatherapy and stem cell transplant were necessary, which was performed in May.

For the continuation of chemotherapy, medical team of the Oncology ward ordered usage of the Termodal medicine in the next 12 months. This drug is not on the list of the Croatian Institute for Health Insurance, therefore his parents are trying to make ends meet in order to ensure money for the much necessary drug for Marko.

One chemotherapy cycle with the stated drug lasts 21 days and costs 7,000 kuna.

Due to the nature oh the boy`s illness in the past 2 years, he needs supervision from both of his parents. Frequent trips and stays in Zagreb and numerous additional costs have drained all financial resources of the Lalic family.

Unfortunately, the parents no longer have the means to cover treatment costs and purchase the Termodal drug which is essential for Marko`s living. We urge the readership to help little Marko with their donations for the purchase of the necessary drug and make the Lalic family`s life easier.
