10 Commandments of Selling - Fitness Club Memberships

1. Thou shalt not Kill - the relationship with a prospective member by trying to sell when they are not ready to buy. By keeping the relationship alive thou shalt prevail to sell another day.

2. Thou shalt not Steal – from the pockets of those who truly can not afford your membership. They will only experience buyers remorse and resent you for ‘pushing’ them into it, resulting in killing a relationship.

3. Thou shalt Believe – in thy teachings of healthy living by exercising both thy body and mind regularly. Walking the path ye preach will ensure that many others follow with belief and conviction.

4. Know thy Destiny – goals and sales targets and review them daily, weekly and monthly. This will ensure ye do not stray from the path that has been laid down for you. Daily consideration of these targets will give you the power of father time to adjust your priorities and action plans so that you always arrive at your destiny on target.

5. Spread thy Word – by being proactive and prospecting daily. Accept responsibility for the role that has been bestowed upon you and do not be reactive waiting for the phone to ring or a prospect to ‘walk in’.

6. Pray daily – (Role-Play/Pray). Practise your techniques regularly. Practising daily ensures you are ready to adapt to different situations and personality types, thereby not having to practise on your customers and risk killing a relationship.

7. Recruit Disciples – daily so that they may also spread your word to their friends, family and colleagues. Every member you befriend and help will help your cause by recruiting other disciples who ‘sell’ your teachings of healthy living.

8. Love thy Children – that you have recruited to members of your club. It is not enough to believe they will find their own way and stay a dedicated disciple. Thou shouldst nurture new children who are infants to healthy living, with regular contact, education, motivation and friendship so that they may grow to be strong happy members.

9. Thou shalt not lie - promising a service or results to a potential member that you can not deliver or they can not realistically achieve is the same as lying. If you can realistically not love and nurture your children in the way of ‘healthy living’ then thou should do no less than guide them in the direction of others who can.

10. Seek greater Understanding – by furthering your knowledge and skills. Seek out new sources of knowledge and self development with regular reading, discussion, practise, and training courses.
