Breakthrough diet!!
Revolutionary new way to lose weight!!
These catchprases are being heard more and more, often with disastrous results. Many of us are now struggling to lose weight that has accumulated over a period of 10 years, and others over just a few months.
These appealing diets that promise results and often show people who are already slim (making it look like they are that way due to their product), can be extremely devastating to our bodies' metabolisms. We try one pill, weight comes off. Fantastic!! I can still eat whatever I want and I get to lose weight we say. After we stop taking this magical pill, those kilos come charging back- often with a friend or 2. So, we try another quick weight loss diet- this time it's the new one just released and also promises results. And round and round we go. Until we end up with a metabolism that can hardly even keep up with your normal foods each day, let alone with any kind of exercise.
As a result- we contine to keep the kilos coming on at the average rate of 1-2 kilos per year. So by the time you reach 50- you're carrying an extra 20+ kilos! No wonder we get arthritis!!
The only true way to lose weight is by applying the principle of:
Energy in VS Energy out. This dynamic principle is used worldwide by doctors, dieticians, nutritionalists etc. Basically, you need to burn up the calories you put in to your diet each day to maintain your weight. If you desire to lose weight, you will need to put in less calories than the burn each day. Simple- right?
Maybe not. Trying to balance exercise and reducing calories can end up in disaster for those who have no idea what they are doing. Some just stop eating. Some cut out food groups. Some increase their exercise and still eat that pizza per week. You need to find that balance between eating the right foods, the right amount of each food and exercise.
However, easy as it may seem, It's not always that simple. The food we buy today isn't 'fresh' anymore. It's had to travel a couple of days in storage before it's put on the shelves. Sometimes, it's actually stored for over 2 months before it reaches out plates! We are no longer living in a society where fresh is actually fresh. So, getting all your vitamins and nutrients is having to come from supplements.
Reducing your calories is time consuming- as you have to count everything you eat and how many calories do you need for YOUR body anyway?
Exercise- well with today's hectic lifestyle, when do we get time to exercise??
So, although the basic principle of energy in vs energy out may seem simple, in reality, it's not. We all need some help to balance our daily lives to not only live healthily, but to function at our best for our familiies, work and children.
