Being that it is the beginning of February now that would be about 4 pounds a week (if I am doing my math correctly).
It can be done, but can it be done in a safe fashion? NO way José. It is humanly impossible to consistently lose more than 1-3 lbs of fat per week.
If you were to lose that amount of weight in such a short period of time; you would be losing mainly water weight and muscle. You would lose very little fat.
Now you may look and feel better about yourself now that you have lost 80 pounds. But the sobering truth is this: because you lost mostly muscle and not fat, you will quickly and easily gain more fat. You will soon be upset once again.
Why will you gain fat so easily?
The reason that you will gain the fat so easily is real simple. The more fat your body has and the less muscle your body has, the easier it will be for fat to stick to you.
Research has shown that by adding a single pound of lean muscle, an individual is able to burn up to 50 extra calories a day just to maintain that pound of muscle.
This research can work in your favor or against you.
If you decide to add several pounds of lean muscle, you will be able to burn several hundred extra calories a day. But at the same time, if you lose several pounds of lean muscle by doing some crazy diet, you will be retaining several hundred extra calories a day. The end result of the second situation is going to be rapid weight gain and depression.
